CURTIS K. “CURT” HECKER
Curtis K. “Curt” Hecker, 97, was welcomed home, April 4, 2021.
He was born in Springfield Township, Ohio on January 18, 1924 to the late Morris and Wilma Hecker. Also preceding him in death, were brothers, Jack and Howard Hecker. Curt was a 1941 graduate of Greensburg High School and was a World War II veteran, stationed in Europe. He graduated from Pittsburg Institute of Mortuary Science and Moody Bible Institute. He spent many years working in the funeral industry and fulfilled his calling, as an ordained Baptist minister. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and the National Lodge #568 F&AM in Barberton.
A kind-hearted person, Curt was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His gentleness was apparent in his everyday life and admired by many. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Darlene Hecker; daughter, Barbara (Pastor “Butch”) Pursley of Green; grandchildren, Heather (Jason M.D.) Straus of Powell, Ohio; Pastor Brian (Brooklyn) Pursley of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Connor, Carsyn, Brennan, and Ellie Straus and Ethan and Dean Pursley.
Family and friends are welcome for visitation, Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm and Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 10:00 am until the time of service, which will begin at 11:00 am, Temple Baptist Church,1212 Greensburg Road, Uniontown, Ohio 44685. Pastors Butch Pursley, Glenn Rogers, Jr., and Brian Pursley officiating. Interment will take place, Friday, April 9, 2021, 10:00 am, Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
