Earl F. Loeffler
Earl Ferdinand Loeffler, aged 93, our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2024, in North Canton, Ohio. Born on December 28, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Jacob Loeffler and Amelia (Eckstorm) Loeffler, Earl grew up on the family farm until proudly beginning his service in 1951 in the United States Army during the Korean War. Also in 1951, he married his soulmate, Nancy Sue Roberts, and they remained together for 63 years until her passing in 2014.
After his service, he obtained his Electrical Engineering degree from Tri State University in Angola, Indiana. He moved his growing family to Akron, Ohio in 1957 to begin work at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. While at Firestone/Bridgestone, he invented and developed innovative new methods and machinery for the manufacturing of tires and he has multiple patents in his name. From 1970-1975, he accepted the position of Director of Research and Development at Firestone, Europa in Rome, Italy, and he and Nancy moved their family of four children overseas, where they enjoyed a multitude of cultural and educational experiences that were a positive impact on his entire family. In 1989, Earl took early retirement from Firestone/Bridgestone to care for Nancy, who had multiple sclerosis. His devotion to her care, and his selflessness in caring for others throughout his life has been a shining beacon and an example that his family will forever carry in their hearts.
The family would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Sanctuary Grande for their kindness and care, and also to Leticia, Denise and the rest of the staff at Absolute Hospice that helped Earl and his family in so many ways through his final days.
Earl was welcomed in heaven by his parents; his sister, Marion; and his beloved Nancy. He will be greatly missed by those he has left behind; his sons, Steven (Luisa) Loeffler of Crocetta del Montello, Italy; Michael Loeffler of North Canton, Ohio; David (Barbara) Loeffler of Uniontown, Ohio; and daughter, Leigh (William) Miller of Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren Christian, Sylvia, Christine, Shaun, Maria and Emily; seven great-grandchildren and another on the way. In keeping with Earl’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Hecker-Patron Funeral Home was entrusted with Earl’s care and privileged in assisting the family during this tender time.
