Ellen Ferro
After a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease, Ellen (nee Theodore) Ferro, 84, died as a result of complications from the disease on October 29, 2017. Ellen was born in Freeport, Pennsylvania on February 22, 1933. Ellen spent the majority of her life in the Akron area, graduating from Springfield H.S. in 1951, and working in the Goodyear Print Dept. for over 30 years. With the exception of her winter residence in Florida, Ellen resided exclusively in Uniontown during the last 30 plus years of her life. She loved her Uniontown neighborhood, where neighbors still care about each other dearly.
When it is said "to know her is to love her," that is a phrase that personifies Ellen's being. Anyone who knew her, would surely testify that she was one of the nicest, most honorable, trusting, and delightful individuals that they have ever known. She truly did not possess a mean bone in her body and she will be missed greatly by many.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Guy Ferro, her father Michael Theodore, her dear mother Zora Theodore, her sister-in-law Megan Theodore, and many dear relatives and wonderful friends, including her best friend, Loretta Guzzo.
Survivors of Ellen include her brother Michael "Mickey" Theodore Jr., sister Yvonne Alexander, nephews Kent and Kirk Blystone, and again many dear friends and other relatives.
Ellen's calling hours at Hecker Funeral Home in Uniontown will be on Sunday November 5 from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. with a short ceremony to follow at 2:30 p.m. Private burial at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Grand Central Station, PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777. Hecker 330 699-2600.
