GERTRUDE ANGERSTIEN

Gertrude K. Angerstien, of Akron, Ohio, who was blessed with 95 years, was welcomed home on November 28, 2018, joining all her loved ones who had gone before her.   She was born November 26, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of the late James Pruitt and Pearl White Pruitt.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Angerstien; daughters, Martha (Pardon) Angerstien and Alice Suzuki; grandsons, Johnny Suzuki and Ryan Angerstien.

Gertrude will be missed and live on in the hearts of those who survive; sons, Tom (Linda) Angerstien of Green, Ohio, Raymond Angerstien II of Akron, Ohio; daughters, Barbara and Joyce Angerstien both of Akron, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; all those who she knew and knew her; and especially her Presser Towers family, whom she loved very much.

A lifelong and the oldest member of Millheim Baptist Church, faith was everything to Gertrude and her family and it surrounded her heart and spirit.  She was one of the iconic, Rosie the Riveters, who entered the work force during World War II at the blimp hanger.  An avid Indians fan, she never missed a game, knew every player, and just how good they really were by their mannerisms.  She enjoyed watching the Little League World Series every year.  Her faith led her to never knowing a stranger and showing her love to all she met, as she would give them a gospel tract and share with them, their need for Jesus in their lives. Her kindness was shown by her knitting washcloths and sending cards to many.

Family and friends are invited for visitation, Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 4 to 6 p.m., Millheim Baptist Church, 2661 Hayne Road, Akron, Ohio  44312, followed by a Memorial Service at 6 p.m. with Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating.  Honoring Gertrude’s wishes, interment will take place privately, at the convenience of her family.

The family has entrusted Gertrude’s care with Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, 13151 Cleveland Avenue, NW, Uniontown, Ohio.
