Janice Harrison

Janice E. Harrison Janice E. Harrison, 84, passed away in Akron on October 29, 2017. Janice was born December 12, 1932 in Springfield Township to Leslie and Oceal (Robinson) Daugherty, she was a 1951 graduate of Uniontown H.S. After graduation she worked as a stenographer for the Summit County Sheriffs office under Sheriff Campbell. Janice later moved with her family to Sanford, N.C. where she lived in McCracken Heights from 1973 to 1997.  While in Sanford, Jan worked as a residential counselor at the Children's Home for many years, volunteered with Hospice and was active in Footlight Players. After the passing of her son David, she returned to the Akron area, where she lived the rest of her life. Preceded in death by her husband William R. Harrison Jr.; son, William David; sister, Pauline Smith and daughter-in-law and friend Deborah Durkey; she is survived by her son, Michael Leslie Durkey; granddaughter Leslie; niece Donna Patterson; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Patty Harrison and other cherished relatives and friends. Janice gifted her body for medical research. She will be buried at a later date at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. It was Jan's wish that anyone wishing to remember her do so by being kind to those less fortunate and giving flowers to their loved ones. Hecker 330 699-2600.
