Richard E. Troy

Richard E. Troy, 88, of Uniontown, OH, peacefully passed away on August 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 12, 1935, in Cleveland, OH, to Edward and Florence Truchomowicz, later shortened to Troy. A man of unwavering faith, Richard was a humble servant of God and a devoted follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Richard answered the call of duty to his country by serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America. He proudly and honorably served his country until his discharge on July 9, 1962. Beyond his military service, Richard's compassionate heart led him to dedicate his time over 20 years to volunteer at the Gennesaret soup kitchen, where he extended a helping hand to those in need in his community.

On September 13, 1958, Richard married the love of his life, Frances Marie Meyers. Their love story began in Church and then later met at the Five and Dime Store, where Richard's chance encounter with Frances led to a lifetime of shared happiness. Their union was blessed with a beautiful family, including their children and spouses Christine and Mike Blair, Richard E. Troy, Theresa and Randy Rhyne, Robert E. Troy, Karen and James Ries, and John and Michelle Troy; grandfather to sixteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Richard's zest for life and adventure was evident in his passion for exploring the great outdoors. He often took his family on memorable trips to various National Parks out West and enjoyed camping in picturesque locations like Hocking Hills and Mohican State Park. After dedicating 38 years of diligent service to Goodyear Aerospace, Richard retired, embarking on new adventures alongside his beloved wife. They embarked on cross-country road trips, traversing all 49 states and relishing in the freedom of the open road. To escape the cold Ohio winters, they found solace in the warm embrace of Paradise Park in McAllen, TX.

Beyond his travels, Richard found joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a penchant for thrifting. His devotion to his faith was unwavering, as he found solace in reading his Bible and offering prayers for his loved ones. One could always find him savoring a delicious slice of pie.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Richard's life during visitation, which will take place on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 from 5pm to 7 pm, Hecker-Patron Funeral Home, Uniontown. The service will be held Thursday, August 31, 2023 at 10am, Nativity of the Lord Jesus Catholic Church, where Richard's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know him. Richard E. Troy leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and selflessness that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who were touched by his presence. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the light he brought into the lives of others.
