SIGRID ELIZABETH (REDINGER) BRYAN
Sigrid Elizabeth (Redinger) Bryan, 79, passed from this life into the heavenly kingdom on Sunday, February 12, 2023. Sigrid was born on June 21, 1943 in Grove City, PA to S. Grant Redinger and Mildred Elizabeth (Flatten) Redinger.
She spent her early childhood in Flagstaff, Arizona before moving to Akron, Ohio in the early 1950s. Sigrid graduated from Ellet High School in the Class of 1961. She attended the Akron City Hospital Idabelle Firestone School of Nursing and graduated in 1964. Sigrid spent her entire 43-year nursing career at Akron Children's Hospital. She liked to tease that she had worked in every department before she retired as the night shift nursing supervisor.
Sigrid married James Elisha Bryan of New York City, NY on June 2, 1973 at Ellet Grace Brethren Church. Together they had three children. She was a faithful member of Parkside Green Church where she served in the nursery. Sigrid enjoyed her many animal companions over the years, as well as traveling with her husband, sewing and gardening.
Sigrid is preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, James Frazer Redinger; and her son, James Elliot Bryan. She is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Jim; daughters, Saranne (Robert) Emery; Leanne (Jeffrey) Becksfort; grandchildren, Ezra and Hadley Becksfort and Evan Emery; brothers, Mark (Nora) Redinger, Timothy (Mary Anne) Redinger; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation for family and friends will be Sunday, February 19, 2023 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and Monday, February 20, 2023 from Noon until the time of service, beginning at 1:00 PM, Parkside Green Church, 4520 S. Arlington Road, Uniontown. Pastor Steve Moroney will officiate. Sigrid will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.
